Barely 24 hours after the horrifying gang-rape of a Spanish tourist sent shockwaves across Jharkhand's Dumka, another disturbing incident has come to light, further highlighting the grave safety concerns in the region. This time, an orchestra troupe member from Chhattisgarh fell victim to a brutal assault by three assailants in Jharkhand's Palamu district late Saturday night, sending ripples of outrage throughout the nation.

According to the FIR filed on Sunday with Palamu's Bishrampur police, the perpetrators were reportedly known to the survivor, adding a chilling layer of betrayal to the heinous act. While two of the culprits have been apprehended, a relentless manhunt is underway for the third perpetrator, identified as Golu Kumar, who remains at large.

Details from the investigation paint a harrowing picture of the events leading up to the assault. Bishrampur SDPO Rakesh Singh revealed, "There was a scheduled show for which the dancer, the survivor in this case, was invited by one of the accused, Golu Kumar. However, following the cancellation of the show, she remained in Kumar's room." It was within the confines of this room that the survivor alleges she was administered a drink that rendered her unconscious, paving the way for the assailants to commit their reprehensible act.

The two arrested suspects have been identified as Ajay Kumar and Deewana Kumar, while Golu Kumar remains elusive, evading the clutches of law enforcement. All three perpetrators have been booked under Sections 328 (causing hurt) and 376 (2) (rape) of the Indian Penal Code, underscoring the gravity of their crimes and the urgent need for swift and stringent justice.
